The hooded teenager hit the garden wall of a home in Warrensway, Woodside, at about 3.30pm on Monday, police said today.

Witnesses told officers the youth then drove the silver Vauxhall Astra a short distance before running back to the house to collect the car's bumper from the wreckage.

The trail of damage left after the speeding car ploughed into the wall

Chris Ammonds, spokesman for Telford police, said: "We are keen to identify the driver, described as around 18 years of age and wearing a black hoodie.

"The car must have suffered a fair bit of damage as the wall was completely knocked down." Police are now appealing for witnesses including a female driver they believe was parked nearby.

Property landlord Chris Weatherstone, of Telford, said: "It is frustrating that people have such little respect for other people's property, but it is more frightening to think children could have been playing in the garden or on the estate because it happened just after school hours."
