Bid to trace men after Telford town centre brawl

Police investigating a brawl in Telford town centre have this afternoon released CCTV pictures of five men they want to identify.

The fight, which involved as many as 20 men, broke out in Central Square. One 23-year-old man suffered three broken ribs while a number of other people suffered minor injuries.

The incident, which took place around 2am on May 26, started outside the Vox Wine Bar and appeared to involve two separate groups of people.

The images – taken from a CCTV camera – show five men who were at the scene at the time.

Chris Ammonds, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: “This appears to have been a major incident of disorder and we are keen to identify anyone who was involved.

“We will not stand for this type of behaviour in Telford and therefore we are releasing a number of CCTV images today in the hope the public can help us identify some of the individuals shown on the stills.

“We would ask anyone who identifies any of the men captured on the footage to contact us as soon as possible.”

Mr Ammonds added: “It is worth noting that we suspect that some of the individuals involved in this disorder were not local to Telford.

“We believe one of the groups involved in this disorder contained men from elsewhere in the Midlands and therefore we would ask people from outside Telford to study these images too.

“If you believe you may have information about this incident, or any of the individuals captured in the CCTV images released today, contact the police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call the police on 101 quoting incident number 92S 260512.

Information can also be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
