The victim, who has not been named, was hit in the arm with a pellet. The incident happened in Holyhead Road in Ketley, on September 3 at about 4pm.

He was taken to the hospital, where the pellet was removed.

Telford Police spokeswoman Denise Wakefield said: "It is believed that the firing of an air weapon had been going on for most of the afternoon in that area.

"However, the matter was not reported to police until after the victim suffered an injury.

"It is thought that whoever fired the weapon may have aimed at the window of the digger. However, there was no pane of glass in the front of the digger so the pellet went into the driver's arm."

Any information should be passed to Police Constable Maurice Wright on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
