Faster mobile speeds and 4G have been rolled out across Market Drayton.

O2 announced the launch, which comes amid complaints from Shropshire Star readers that poor and non-existent mobile coverage is continuing to plague the county.

Derek McManus, chief operating officer at Telefónica UK said: "O2 customers in Market Drayton can now experience faster mobile internet on their devices such as streaming high definition TV, shopping on the go and video calling.

"For our business customers, 4G is all about working more effectively. For instance, they can work remotely, access cloud services and collaborate using apps. O2 4G can make everything easier for our customers."

Earlier this week it was revealed that more than half of Shropshire Star readers are still living with bad mobile phone coverage, and nearly 60 per cent have seen no improvements.

A survey of 1,100 people found 33 per cent believed it had actually got worse over the last two years, while nearly 20 per cent said the terrible coverage had made them think about moving out of Shropshire.

Yesterday, O2 claimed it was making "excellent progress" providing improvements around the county, with a number of sites already having been upgraded.

It revealed that Prees in Shropshire, Llandrindod Wells and Caersws in Powys could all expect to see improvements over the next few months.
