The video was released by the hospital after Matthew, who has been battling brain and spinal cancer, left this week with his parents Leigh and Sue.

Staff at the hospital created a guard of honour for him when he was released.

Matthew, 11, has been released to a temporary home, while his family await renovation work on their home in Trench by the team from DIY SOS.

The BBC makeover show will come to Telford in February to provide the renovation work it needs.

After more than a year in hospital, Matthew has finished his chemotherapy and is now in a home, where he can continue his recovery.

The money already raised for Matthew will now be used to pay for an intensive physiotherapy programme for him and other pieces of equipment that will help strengthen his limbs in the hope that one day he may be able to leave his wheelchair behind.
