Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) says it launched the Values In Practice Awards to celebrate the outstanding achievements and contributions of its staff to delivering high quality care to patients.

This week, the Shropshire Star has joined with the trust to introduce you to the five finalists vying to be named as the winner in the Public Choice Award.

  • Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust’s VIP Awards reward workers who help make a difference

  • The Shropshire Star has teamed up with the trust for the People’s Choice category

  • Finalists will be invited to an awards ceremony later this month

They were Angela and Roger Turner, Julie Lock, John Ore, Terry and Barbara Seston and Graham Furber.

The plan is to make the awards an annual event to celebrate the work that takes place across the county's hospitals undertaken by all the staff, volunteers and charities.

The awards feature 10 categories in total to highlight the efforts of more than 5,500 staff and around 1,000 volunteers and will recognise the importance of delivering service with kindness and compassion.

Victoria Maher, workforce director at SaTH, said: "Every day, each and every member of our staff makes a significant contribution to the care we deliver to our patients.

"I often see and hear examples of some of the fantastic things our staff do, all of which reveal just how kind and caring they all are.

"It's really important that we celebrate their achievements and highlight the efforts they make to deliver the safest and kindest care to our patients and their families.

"We received hundreds of nominations for the awards.

"Everyone who was nominated should be proud of their achievements as colleagues, patients and other members of the public took the time to highlight how they make a difference.

"Whilst there can only be one winner in each category, each of our shortlisted entrants should be proud.

"There are some really amazing stories to be told for each of those who have been shortlisted and some of these will be shared when our VIP Awards are presented."
