The Action for Children centre closed earlier this year due to changes in how respite care is arranged by Telford & Wrekin Council.

The site, in Acorn Way, Shawbirch, Telford, offers breaks for youngsters with disabilities and will be operated by private care operator Care Tech when it reopens its doors next month. It was previously run by the charity Action for Children.

Kerry Allen, head of development at Care Tech, said: "It will be a short break home for children with disabilities and will operate very similarly as Action for Children. We are hoping to make it more of a resource centre that can be used by the community. We are due for an Ofsted registration visit and we are hoping to be open in September."

A manager is already in post and support workers have been recruited for the project that is expected to employ 20 people.
