Shropshire man, 42, was found dead after night out, inquest told

A Shropshire man was found dead in his bed after a night out with friends, an inquest heard.

Coroner for Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin John Ellery opened the inquest in to the death of Stuart Nicholas Johnston of Montrose Place, Bicton Heath, near Shrewsbury, yesterday.

The 42-year-old unemployed man had been out with a group of friends for a meal and drinks on March 24.

They returned to his home in Bicton Heath and carried on drinking before going to bed at around 3am.

On March 25, at around 1.30pm, Mr Johnston was found dead on his bed.

An ambulance and police were called to the address and confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.

A post mortem was carried out at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and found that he had died from cardiorespiratory arrest and heroin and cocaine toxicity.

A contributing factor was type 2 diabetes and obesity.

The inquest was adjourned to September 13 and will be heard at the Shirehall, Shrewsbury.
