Hedge and fences on fire in Shrewsbury

Fence panels were damaged after eight metres of hedging caught fire near Shrewsbury.

Firefighters were called to deal with the blaze at a house in Langford Avenue in Bayston Hill.

The fire, which involved conifer hedging, happened at about 8.15pm on Saturday.

A fire crew from Shrewsbury spent around half an hour at the scene and used a hose-reel jet to extinguish the flames.

Meanwhile, a fire involving about 15 metres of grass, gorse and undergrowth had to be tackled by firefighters.

It happened in Crumpsbrook, near Clee Hill, at about 11.40am yesterday.

A crew from Cleobury Mortimer spent about half an hour on scene to extinguish the fire.
