A stretch of canal has also been examined as part of the investigation.

North Wales Police have confirmed the inquiry, which started at farmland in Gobowen, near Oswestry, continues as officers spent yesterday searching a forested area in Nant y Ffrith on the outskirts of Bwlchgwyn, near Wrexham.

Detectives have not given further details about their inquiry other than to say it is an "historic murder".
