DOM Architecture and Design has submitted the plans on behalf of developer Adam Smith who wants to turn the chapel which stands in the grounds of Shelton Hospital, on the outskirts of the town, into luxury housing.

The former chapel, which was built in 1856, would be transformed in to three three-bedroom homes and a four-bedroom property.

The plans are due to go before Shropshire Council's planning committee at a date to be set.

The former hospital site is currently undergoing a huge transformation by Shropshire Homes to turn it into more than 100 luxury homes and apartments. Additional homes are being built in the grounds of the redundant hospital.
