Grandmother found murdered at Mid Wales property is named

A grandmother-of-seven who was found murdered in Mid Wales has been named locally as Tracy Cockrell.

Her death is being investigated by Dyfed-Powys Police.

Officers were called to investigate the sudden death of a 51-year-old woman on Sunday afternoon and later also found the body of a 45-year-old man at an isolated property on the outskirts of Machynlleth.

Ms Cockrell is believed to have moved to the area from Yorkshire and had worked at Cartref Dyfi Bupa care home in prior to her death, according to reports.

Machynlleth county councillor Michael Williams said: "Whatever the circumstances this is a terrible tragedy, and I extend the thoughts and sympathies to the families, on behalf of the people of Machynlleth, at this awful time.

"I think the key thing is for families to hold together during times like these."

Sian George, spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police, said formal identification was yet to take place.
