Boutique blaze shuts Wyle Cop clothes shop
A clothes shop in the centre of Shrewsbury had to be evacuated in the middle of the day after a fire started in the basement.
Sweet Verona Boutique at the top of Wyle Cop was closed for about an hour after the fire started at around 1pm.
The fire brigade was called after smoke was discovered in the basement of the shop and customers and staff evacuated the building.
A spokeswoman for the ladies' clothing shop said there was no damage caused and the store was able to reopen as usual once the fire had been put out.
Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said the fire appeared to have started in smoking materials.
A crew from Shrewsbury donned breathing apparatus and used a hose reel jet to put out the fire before checking for any hot spots with a thermal imaging camera.
No one was injured.
