Pictures: Flood barriers stay up in Shrewsbury and Ironbridge

Flood barriers are due to stay in place in Ironbridge and Shrewsbury today with peak levels on the River Severn being reached this morning.

The barriers were put up yesterday and Tuesday in the wake of heavy rain from Storm Imogen earlier this week.

The Environment Agency today said flood levels in Shropshire were the highest the county has seen this winter.

In Shrewsbury the Frankwell Riverside Short and Long Stay car parks are still closed, although Julian St Friar's Car Park has today reopened.

This morning the Environment Agency's Dave Throup tweeted:

In Bridgnorth there are closures to Doctors Lane, Severnside South and Quayside, as well as footpaths to Pale Meadow and Severn Park because of flooding.
