Knifeman flees with £200 from store near Whitchurch

An armed robber escaped with about £200 from a convenience store near Whitchurch.

The man, who was armed with a bladed weapon, entered the convenience store in Shrewsbury Street, Prees, and demanded the cashier hand over the contents of the till.

Police say the cashier feared for his safety and removed a various amount of notes believed to be about £200, and placed them on the till.

The offender then grabbed the money and fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The robbery happened between 6.20pm and 6.25pm on Saturday.

The suspect is described as a white man, approximately 6ft tall and of a large buildm with a rounded belly.

He was wearing a pale blue hooded jacket with the zip-up, light coloured jogging bottoms and is believed to have a northern accent.
