Another car has become the target for vandals in recent spate of attacks in Newport.

The car, a Nissan Quashqai, was left with a large scratch along the drivers side when it was parked on Leigh Road in Newport over night on Monday.

This is the fifth car to be targeted by vandals in two weeks and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Last week the Shropshire Star reported that two cars had white paint thrown over them, one was scratched and another has been left covered in grafitti from a permanent marker.

The cars were all parked in various parts of the town including Talbot Close, Audley Avenue and on Newport swimming pool's car park.

Pc Lee Thomas, of West Mercia Police said: "Although we can't say the incidents are connected, we would really like to hear from anyone who can supply information as to who is responsible for these attacks."

Anyone with information about either of the attacks is asked to contact West Mercia Police by calling 101.
