Robert Yates, 50, had been found guilty of indecency and indecent assault by a jury following a trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court last month. Yates was jailed for 15 months on Monday and will be subject to an extended period of supervision after his release.

Judge Peter Barrie told Yates the incidents were psychologically damaging to the victim, who was under 13 at the time. He said Yates had shown no remorse and continued to deny the allegations.

Yates, of Woodrows in Woodside, Telford, will have to be on the sex offenders' register for 10 years.

Mr Brendan Reedy, for Yates, said the offences had occurred when his client was an adolescent and had never been repeated.
