Man left with damaged tooth after Shrewsbury assault

A man was left with a bloody nose and a damaged tooth after being assaulted in Shrewsbury in the early hours of the morning.

West Mercia Police are appealing for information about the attack, which took place at Castle Gates in Shrewsbury, between 1.45am and 2.03am on Sunday, January 17.

Terri Anne-Powell of West Mercia Police said the victim was assaulted by a white man in a grey hooded jacket.

She said: "The victim, a man in his twenties, and a friend arrived at Castle Gates following an evening out in Shrewsbury. The pair were then approached by an unknown man who began to be verbally abusive to the victim and his friend.

"The offender then physically assaulted the victim. As a result the victim sustained a bloody nose and damage to one of his teeth. Following the attack the offender made off on foot and joined a nearby group of people."

The attacker is described as white and aged between 20 and 25. At the time of the incident he was believed to be wearing a grey hooded jacket.
