Look who's in the dog house. Peppa made a right pig's ear of an attempt to escape her Shropshire home.

The eight-month-old piglet caused a stir in the otherwise sedate market town of Newport after making a run for it.

Owner Abbie Vaughan said she noticed Peppa had vanished after her friend came to visit.

The 17-year-old college student said the pig managed to head butt her way through a fence.

After posting a status on Facebook many people contacted the Grove College student student with possible sightings.

Hours of searching later the police were called in and at about 9pm she was found in Tibberton.

Peppa was given her favourite food of Coco Pops and taken home to Ercall Heath where she was tucked up in bed.

Miss Vaughan said: "When I bought Peppa I thought she was a micro pig – but she's clearly not. It looked like she had head butted her way out of the garden.

"She was spotted at Tibberton Primary School and various other places. Eventually a farmer found her and she seemed to really like him, which is odd because she doesn't like many people.

"She went straight in her basket when she got home and wrapped herself up in her blankets and went to sleep. She's fine now and I think she enjoyed her little adventure."
