Man arrested over fatal crash on A41 in Shropshire

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after one man died and two others were injured in a crash on the A41 in Shropshire.

The man, in his 20s, has been bailed by West Mercia Police until February 18.

The crash happened took place at around 1.10am on Sunday, close to the The Bell public house in Tong, near Shifnal.

Police say that the collision involved a black Mini Cooper, which was travelling north towards Newport from Junction Three of the M54, and a blue Toyota Yaris.

The driver of the Toyota, a man in his 30s, suffered "multiple serious injuries" and died at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics who provided advanced life support.

Two passengers, also in the Toyota, were taken to hospital, one for advanced trauma care, and the other for treatment on multiple minor injuries.

Police are now appealing for information from anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
