Shrewsbury homes plan refusal backed by inspector

A decision to refuse plans for 125 homes in Shrewsbury has been backed by a planning inspector.

The proposal for homes off Longden Road was taken to appeal by developers Morris Homes after it was refused by Shropshire Council in December 2014.

But the inspector has rejected the appeal and Councillor Mal Price, cabinet member for planning, described it as a significant decision for the authority.

He said: "It was appealed against the five-year land supply and the inspector went through about 73 sites line by line as to whether we had the five-year land supply and they have confirmed we do.

"It reflects on the policies and performance of Shropshire Council."

Planning permission has already been granted for a 175-home development nearby off Mousecroft Lane.
