We are backing organisations from around our circulation area running or planning projects that will benefit their local community.

  • IMPORTANT - Remember, to qualify you must submit a minimum of 500 tokens collected from the Shropshire Star.   • Registrations must be received by 5pm, Saturday, February 13, 2016. Registration has now closed.

  • Registrations will only be accepted when signed by an authorised officer of the community group who is over the age of 18 on the official registration form. This will be printed in the Shropshire Star on a regular basis from February 1 until February 10, 2016 and online or until the first 50 eligible groups have registered.

  • Your community group must have a constitution which details who the members/trustees/directors are, have a set of audited accounts and a bank account in the name of the group with at least two non-related signatories.

  • The campaign is only open to not-for-profit community groups, charities or social enterprise organisations whose main activities are based in the circulation area of the Shropshire Star.

  • Each participating group will receive a slice of the £20,000 prize fund from which the top three community groups will each receive a £1,000 bonus. The remaining £17,000 will be divided proportionately to the total number of tokens collected by all the participating groups. The minimum prize value is £50.

  • In order to receive a share of the prize fund the minimum number of tokens to collect is 500 (excluding free tokens).

  • Prizes will be allocated as a cheque (not cash) made payable to the organisation and are not transferable. No prize alternatives are available.

  • 50 verified community groups will be eligible to take part. Eligibility will also be based upon how the prize money will be spent as described on the registration form which will be assessed by a panel of judges. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

  • Successful groups will receive an information pack.

  • Tokens can be collected between Thursday, March 3 until Saturday, April 9, 2016.

  • Supporters will be asked to send their tokens direct to their chosen organisation accompanied with a Token Collection Form.

  • These forms must be submitted with the tokens at the end of the token collect period to comply with the Data Protection Act.

  • All tokens will be recalled at the end of the campaign to be verified. Please group tokens in batches of 500 in separate envelopes or bags then place all bags in a parcel(s). The Token Notification Form, which will be sent with the information pack, must be completed and a copy attached to each parcel.

  • Tokens must be cut around the dotted lines. Photocopied or defaced tokens will not be counted.

  • The closing date for submitting tokens is 5pm, Saturday, April 30, 2016. DO NO T send tokens before the the last token has been printed. Please send to Cash For Your Community, Shropshire Star, Waterloo Road, Ketley, Telford TF1 5HU.

  • If posting please ensure the correct postage is put in the envelope/parcel. Any entries with insufficient postage will not be accepted or collected from Royal Mail and will therefore be void.

  • No responsibility will be accepted for any entries which are lost, damaged, or delayed in the post.

  • No purchase necessary. To claim the total value of tokens published during the campaign period, please write to Cash For Your Community, Shropshire Star, Waterloo Road, Ketley, Telford TF1 5HU. We will require a full name and address along with the full name and address of the community group the tokens are for. Requests for free tokens must be received by 5pm, Wednesday, March 9, 2016 and limited to one per household. Multiple requests in one envelope will not be accepted.

  • Community groups will be notified of the number of free tokens to be added to the total number of tokens collected. Requests for free tokens will not be accepted until the community groups have been notified of acceptance and registration has been confirmed.

  • Representatives from the top ten participating community groups will be invited to a presentation in May/June 2016 to receive their prizes.

  • Participating groups will be showcased in the Shropshire Star, online and via social media throughout the duration of the campaign and agree to take part in relevant publicity including photographic and video coverage.
