Letter: County people take pride in hospital

In response to the letter from Carol Drewry, of January 11, regarding Telford hospital and the Royal Shrewsbury.

While it might of escaped the thinking of most people living in Telford, Shrewsbury is in fact the county town and is central to the road network of Shropshire, and is not on the eastern fringes near Wolverhampton and Birmingham.

Shrewsbury Hospital was paid for by the tax payers of Shropshire, we have pride in our hospital, it is a shame those running it into the ground don't.

Carol Drewry does raise some very important points regarding our hospital that perhaps Daniel Kawczynski MP could answer: Just why was the land around the Shrewsbury Hospital allowed to be sold off when it was obvious any land would be needed for further expansion? Why were the women's and children's wards allowed to be moved to Telford?

Were there hidden motives for these decisions? One does wonder how impartial these decisions were.

She also mentions the single track roads they used to travel on towards Shrewsbury. Well believe it or not, we still travel on single track roads to get to RSH or alternatively we could travel on country lanes to get to Telford, unlike the motorway or dual carriageways to Wolverhampton or Birmingham. You have a choice, we don't.

Please don't take any more services from Shrewsbury Hospital or the rest of Shropshire with you.
