Telford & Wrekin Council has given the green light to the fifth phase of the Lightmoor village development and work is expected to start imminently, with the first homes completed and on the market by the summer.

The picture has been released by Bournville Village Trust, the housing association developing the homes in partnership with the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) on land north of Lightmoor Village.

Two, three and four-bedroom houses will be built for sale by developer Keepmoat on the 20-acre site, of which 50 will be affordable homes for rent managed by Bournville Village Trust.

The plans will also see a village green created featuring native wildflowers and a children's play area.

Connections will also be made to Lightmoor Village's existing cycle and footpath network to encourage residents to enjoy an active lifestyle and the outdoors.

The village is currently home to more than 1,000 people and includes a community centre, primary school and nursery, an extra care housing scheme and two parks.

It will feature 1,000 homes once complete.

Inspired by chocolate-maker George Cadbury's Bournville garden village, Lightmoor is a joint venture between Bournville Village Trust and the HCA.
