This striking image shows the M54 as many people may never have seen it before.

Not only does the picture show the image of the M54 traffic, it also shows the full moon hidden behind the clouds and The Wrekin in the background with the beacon lit on top of it. This snap comes after part of the motorway was closed to traffic when cracks appeared in the concrete last week.

The eastbound carriageway between junction three for Albrighton and junction two for Wolverhampton was closed overnight for emergency repairs.

The cracks appeared on Wednesday, leading to work on the carriageway that caused delays of an hour for morning commuters travelling from Shropshire towards Wolverhampton and the M6 on Thursday.

That work was completed over the weekend.
