Flood alerts out for Shropshire and Shrewsbury

Flood alerts have been put in place for areas of Shropshire, including central Shrewsbury, for later this week as heavy rain continues to batter the region.

The Environment Agency has issued an orange alert out for Wednesday with areas and roads including the Frankwell Car Park, Gravel Hill Lane and Sydney Avenue in Shrewsbury all at risk of flooding.

River levels in Shrewsbury are rising and are expected to peak at 4.3 and 4.6 metres by Wednesday afternoon.

Other areas at risk are Crew Green, Melverley, Montford and Buildwas.
