Woman in her 80s suffers serious injuries in Craven Arms hit-and-run

A woman in her 80s suffered significant head injuries when she was knocked down by a hit-and-run driver in Craven Arms.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision on the B4368 Clun Road at about 9.30am yesterday.

Terri-Anne Powell, spokeswoman for West Mercia Police, said: "The collision involved an unknown vehicle, thought to be a small goods vehicles, and a pedestrian.

"The vehicle was travelling from Clun towards Craven Arms. The vehicle did not stop at the scene.

"The victim, a woman in her 80s, sustained significant head injuries as a result of the collision and her subsequent fall to the floor.

"She was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment."
