Tributes have been paid to 18-year-old Tyrone Lock, who has been named on social media as the person discovered at Hill Valley Golf Club in Whitchurch.

A police investigation is under way after the body was found on Monday morning.

Police have not confirmed the identity of the man, but have said he was from the Hope-under-Dinmore area, near Leominster.

Rhiannon James posted on Facebook: "RIP Tyrone Lock, gone but never forgotten. God will have one of the best beds up in heaven.

"He was truly too young to go he had his full life ahead off him. What a cruel world we live in."

Martina Francis wrote: "Poor boy, heartbreaking."

Ann Antwis posted on the Shropshire Star Facebook page: "So very sad god bless family friends rest in peace young man."

And Shannon Xshan posted: "RIP sleep tight angel."

Detectives said an investigation was being carried out but that officers are not looking for anyone else in connection with the death.

A post mortem examination is yet to be conducted but the coroner has been informed. An inquest has not yet been opened into his death.

Kieren Bodill, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "We can confirm that the body found at the Hill Valley Golf Club in Whitchurch on Monday morning is that of an 18-year-old male from the Hope-under-Dinmore area of Leominster.

"Police are continuing the investigation into the circumstances of his death, but we can confirm we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this matter.

"A post mortem examination is yet to be conducted. The coroner has been informed. The next of kin have been notified and request that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."

Yesterday both town mayor Councillor Mike MacDonald and former mayor Rob Hewson spoke of their sadness at the discovery.

Nobody at the golf club, which is part of the Hill Valley complex off Tarporley Road that includes a hotel and spa, has yet been available to comment.
