Truck carrying 300 sheep tips over on A5 near Oswestry

A truck carrying 300 sheep ended up on its side after an accident near Oswestry.

The HGV with livestock on board left the road at the A5 Mile End roundabout.

Fire crews from Oswestry and the specialist Shropshire Fire and Rescue animal rescue team from Wellington were sent to the scene to help transport the animals from the vehicle into a waiting livestock lorry.

No motorists were injured in the accident.

Officers from the RSPCA, a vet, police and the Highways Agency were also called to the scene just after 6.30pm.
