The builders say the scheme will bring investment and a jobs boost to the area.

David Wilson Homes is building 65 homes at Montgomery Place on Morda Road, creating 130 jobs.

As well as building homes the company will also be investing more than £300,000 in the community.

John Fitzgerald, managing director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, which is building the houses for Barratt Homes, said: "We are delighted to get work under way at Montgomery Place so we can begin building our quality new homes for local people."

Mr Fitzgerald added: "As well as building new homes, we will also be investing in the area so people throughout Oswestry will feel the benefits.

"The development will start to take shape over the next few months.

"We are excited about creating a new community of high quality homes for local people, all built to the exceptional standards that people expect from a David Wilson Homes development." Sales manager Angela Nurse and site manager Mark Fielding visited Montgomery Place to officially mark the start of work.

The development is located half a mile from the centre of Oswestry.
