Planning permission is being sought to change The Coach and Horses in Shropshire Street into living accommodation. The application was submitted by Julie Jones to the planning committee at Shropshire Council.

The building has been up for sale for more than 24 months with a reduction in price by over £50,000 during that time.

However, the owners have said during the period it has been up for sale there has been no interest in the pub continuing as a public house. It is currently still open as a pub.

In a planning document submitted by Susan Rowley, architectural designer, it states: "The plans are to adopt residential accommodation to the remainder of the ground floor at rear and integrate this to the existing first floor residential accommodation for use solely by the owner / proprietor and his family.

"The proposal promotes the enhancement of the environment and accessibility provision, minimises transport impacts and makes best use of the existing space.

The public house had originally been a dwelling, and these plans will return it to the status of a private separate dwelling.

"There is no increase in space to the development, merely a re-assignment of its existing uses. The owner / proprietor and his family all live within the premises and utilise the existing first floor residential accommodation."
