Two cars were left wrecked after a crash on the A5 near Telford this morning during a chaotic morning on Shropshire's roads, which also saw a road roller has fallen off a lorry in Shrewsbury and a driver needing medical attention after a car and lorry crashed .

The first crash happened this morning shortly after 6.30am and the A5 at Telford just before Junction 7 of the M54 for Wellington on the eastbound carriageway.

The circumstances surrounding the crash and the condition of those involved is not yet known.

The road wast partially blocked, causing some problems for motorists during rush-hour.

Ambulance crews were called to an accident on A5112 Whitchurch Road close to the Heathgates roundabout at 8.10am when a car and a lorry were in collision.

A male driver from the car was treated at the scene of the accident, in which a lorry had partially shed its load, but did not require hospital attention.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We sent an ambulance and rapid response vehicle to the scene. A car was involved with a lorry that had lost part of its load. We treated a male from the car at the scene but he did not require to go to hospital and he was released at the scene."

Another delay was reported on the A49 at Bayston Hill where a road roller had slid from the back of a lorry. The incident was quickly dealt with and the road cleared for rush hour traffic.

The third incident was on the A5191 Ditherington Road in Shrewsbury at just after 10.30am.

Traffic was affected in both directions while the accident was dealt with. The emergency services did not attend.
