The event last night saw streets, shops and houses of the town transformed into eerie places, filled with ghosts, ghouls and monsters.

The buildings were illuminated in spectacular style, while fireworks and pyrotechnic effects will help to light the night sky.

New additions to this year's event were scenes from the chilling story of Sweeney Todd, the fictional Victorian murdering barber, which was performed by the Sundial Theatre Company in the Town's Iron Works.

Light and sound effects transformed the town's usually peaceful streets into shadowy, atmospheric walkways, where ghostly characters lurk.
