All quiet over new superstore and cinema in Oswestry

Bosses at retail giants Morrisons are remaining tight-lipped over what is happening with its planned new superstore in Oswestry.

The proposed store was due to be built as part of the £45 million Smithfield livestock market site regeneration on the edge of town.

The site was cleared last year to make space for the new development, which was also due to include a Cineworld cinema and various restaurants.

But it has remained fenced off since then with no sign of building work starting.

Neither Morrisons nor Cineworld will comment on the future of the site, saying there was no statement at this time.
