Telford magistrates were told that apart from his speed there was nothing wrong with William Robert Wynn's driving on the A53 Hodnet bypass on March 14.

Wynn, of Middle Lane, Cold Hatton, Telford, had previously admitted via post one charge of speeding in his Skoda Octavia.

But the level of speed was so high magistrates were yesterday called to consider an immediate driving ban.

Mr Jonathan Mason, for Wynn, said his client was very remorseful and needed his car to take his extremely ill wife to a medical centre.

He was fined £400, given six points on his licence and ordered to pay £105 in court costs.
