Scheme to support Shropshire young carers to be axed
Two schemes that support young carers in Shropshire will be axed, it was revealed today.
The British Red Cross has announced that it will not reapply for funding for the young carers' and young adult carers' projects in the county.
Jane Abdulla, British Red Cross operations director in Shropshire, said: "While this was a very difficult decision, the Red Cross focuses on the provision of short term support in a crisis.
"To achieve the most effective service carers should be supported over longer periods of time and we believe there are other providers that are potentially in a better
position to deliver this support.
"We will be working closely with other specialist providers and organisations, looking to transfer both services so that carer support in Shropshire continues."
