Motorcyclist in critical condition after M54 crash near Telford

A motorcyclist is in a critical condition after a serious collision on the M54.

The rider was taken to the Princess Royal Hospital following the accident on the eastbound carriageway of the motorway between junction 7 and 6.

When he arrived he was then airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition with severe head and chest injuries.

Police said a red Honda Firestorm motorbike, a black Vauxhall Mokka and a black Ford Mondeo are thought to be involved in the collision, although investigations are still ongoing.

Sargent Gavin Green from the Central Motorway Police Group said: "This is a sad incident which has left a local man fighting for his life and his family are currently being supported by one of our specialist officers.

"We are aware there were motorists who were at the scene but left prior to our arrival and we are keen to speak to these people or anyone who witnessed the crash.

"I would also like to thank the public for their patience while officers dealt with the incident."

The accident happened at about 5.26pm on Sunday, September 6.
