The M54 slip road was closed off again for further police investigations

The skull and skeletal remains were discovered by maintenance workers near the eastbound slip road of Junction 4 of the M54 on August 20.

Police have already confirmed the skull was that of an adult male - and they are currently working to identify the body.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Jamieson said: "A number of enquiries are continuing. This includes a further search of the area where the remains were found, whilst weather conditions allow. I am keen to ensure that we have done all we can to recover all of the remains and any personal property which may have belonged to this individual. We are currently awaiting results from the forensic laboratory and are compiling a database of missing persons across the region.

We apologise for any inconvenience the closure may cause to drivers, but as I'm sure the public appreciate it is vital that thorough searches and examinations are carried out to identify the man and establish what has happened."

The slip road close to Priorslee and the Shifnal services is expected to be closed for most of today.
