The 16-year-old, from Pant near Oswestry, handed in the money at the Co-op store in the village.

Businessman Tim Turner, who dropped the cash, has been trying to track down the young Good Samaritan to reward him for his honesty.

Mr Turner, 51, who runs Total Packaging Solutions in Crickheath, was astonished when staff at the store contacted his wife saying the money had been handed in shortly after his visit.

He drew the money out of a cash point at the road-side convenience store on Tuesday.

Carol Marsden, Declan's mother, said: "I think somebody had put it on Facebook that the gentleman was trying to track down Declan.

"He hasn't been in touch with the guy yet. He is waiting to be contacted."
