Shoplifter threatens Shrewsbury shop worker with a knife

A Shrewsbury shop worker  was threatened with a knife following a theft from a clothing store in the town centre.

The incident happened at around 4pm yesterday when the shoplifter stole items of clothing from the Blacks Store on Shoplatch and was pursued by a member of staff.

The thief turned left into Claremont Street where he got on to a black mountain bike and cycled away on to Bellstone. When the staff member caught up with him he threatened him with a knife, before cycling away.

The offender is described as a white male, in his late 20s to early 30s, around 5ft 1ins and of slim build. He had short cut, fair hair and some 'scruffy' facial hair. He was also described as having "gaunt" facial features and was wearing a black jacket with a hood attached.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact police by calling 101 and quoting incident number 334 of August 27.
