Tim Turner was astonished when staff at the Co-op store in Pant, near Oswestry, contacted his wife saying the money had been handed in shortly after his visit.

Now he wants to meet the honest young man, possibly a paper boy, to give him a reward.

Mr Turner, 51, who runs Total Packaging Solutions in Crickheath, drew the money out of a cash point at the road-side convenience store on Tuesday.

"I took more than £100 out in £20 notes and put it in my pocket," he said today.

"It was pouring with rain and I must have dropped some of the money as I raced back to the car."

"A bit later in the day my wife rang me at work and asked me if I had lost anything.

"A young man had found a bundle of notes, soaking wet, in the car park, gone into the shop and handed them to the staff."

The boy is said to be about 16 or 17-years-old, tall and with ginger hair.

"If he calls into the Co-op they will contact me," Mr Turner said.

"I would like to thank him in person and reward him for his honesty."
