Worcester-based Lioncourt Homes has sealed a deal to buy the development site, off Coalport Road in Broseley, from Oldham-based property developer Grasscourt Homes.

The site is earmarked for 27 homes, including a mix of three and four-bedroom properties, some of which are detached and some of which are semi-detached.

Work has already begun on the homes, with the first properties expected to be marketed early in 2016.

Ashley James, land manager at Lioncourt Homes said: "The site at Broseley is in a great location and our plans will ensure that a range of top-quality family homes are developed to support the burgeoning demand in the area.

"We are very proud of our Five Star Quality Award from HBF and this new development gives us another opportunity to develop homes that represent the very best quality in modern living."

Michael Coulter, director at Grasscroft Property, added: "We've been active outside the North West for a number of years and this latest deal is testament to our commitment to further extending our operations.

"Lioncourt Homes has a great reputation in the Midlands for delivering quality homes and we're sure the local community will benefit from the increased number of houses available."

Housebuilders are continuing to benefit from the revival of the housing market, and the new development in Broseley is one of a number that are being worked on in Shropshire at present.

This week has already seen plans approved for 1,100 new homes to be built to the east of Castle Farm Way in Priorslee in Telford, with work beginning in 2017 and due for completion in 2030.

The new estate, which was granted outline planning permission at a meeting at Telford's Whitehouse Hotel, would include a school, retirement village and doctor's surgery.
