Bingo! Lucky Telford club has two big wins in a week

The numbers really came up at a lucky Shropshire bingo club, which had two national winners in four days – scooping a total of £45,000.

The winning streak began at Globe Bingo at the start of last week, when an elderly man won the top prize of £25,000..

The good luck continued the following Wednesday when a woman in her 40s took the national prize of £20,000.

It left manager Francis Gillard, who only arrived at the club in Donnington, Telford, last month, wondering whether he was the lucky charm that had brought about the run of good fortune.

"It's amazing, I have never known anything like it before," he said.

"I have only been here six weeks, so it's a pretty good start.

"To have one winner of the National Game is rare, but to have two in such a short space of time is incredible.

"It's been a long time since we have had a national winner."

Mr Gillard said both winners lived in Telford, and were regulars at the club, but both don't yet want to be identified.

"The first winner was a retired gentleman, he has been going for quite a while, and he loves his bingo," he said.

"He's a lovely guy and he was really happy."

He added that both winners had continued to play at the club since winning their prizes.

Mr Gillard said the club would be organising a party night when both winners would be presented with their cheques.
