Stranded in Shrewsbury: One dog, three fire engines

Fire crews were called to the River Severn in Shrewsbury after reports were received that a dog was stranded on the river bank.

Three fire engines raced to Sydney Avenue at just after 7.30pm on Tuesday.

A dog was stuck on the river bank but while the crews were being mobilised it managed to scramble free.

A spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Three appliances from Shrewsbury and Wellington attended the scene after reports were received that a dog was stuck on river bank.

"The dog was able to make its own way to safety while crews were attempting rescue."
