Gladys Cloke, who is the oldest resident at Chillcott Gardens in Madeley, Telford, marked her special day on July 28 with a party for family, friends and carers.

Her only son Roy and daughter-in-law Sandra, grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grandchildren joined her for the event that featured swing duo String of Pearls and an afternoon tea. Gladys spent most of her life living in Kent. She moved to Birmingham when her husband John died to live with her son and daughter-in-law.

The family moved to Brookside in Telford and Gladys lived alone until she was 91 before moving into Chillcott Gardens in 2002.

Sandra Cloke said: "She has always been an outgoing person and joined in all the clubs and activities going.

"She keeps up to date on everything that's going on and is a really jolly person. She had a great time at the party with lots of her family and really enjoyed the day."

Carol McPherson, the manager of Chillcott Gardens, said: "Gladys is a very special lady and we were so pleased to be able to help create a day she won't forget with so many family and friends."
