At least six caravans arrived at lunchtime yesterday.

Shropshire Council has previously admitted it is aware of the need for more gipsy and traveller sites in the county.

Vivienne Parry, Shropshire councillor for Ludlow South, said she wasn't surprised to hear travellers had moved on to the site. "I know they have not got enough official sites for these people," she said.

"They move around in the summer a lot and try and find as many jobs as they can.

"It is also so easy to get on there. I think they were on there once before but it was quite a long time ago.

"I have warned Shropshire Council it is so easy to get on there and nothing has been done. I think it will take a court order to get them off."

"I have also told Shropshire Council about the terrible state of the site as a whole."
