Five arrested after car leads police on chase through Telford

A car led police on a chase through Telford and The Wrekin resulting in five people being arrested and bailed in connection.

West Mercia Police is appealing for witnesses after a car failed to stop after being instructed to do so by officers on July 11 between 7.30pm and 7.45pm.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle in the Ironbridge area of Telford. After failing to do so officers gave chase to the vehicle through Ironbridge, Horsehay, Little Wenlock and The Wrekin.

After deploying a stinger, officers were able to bring the vehicle to a stop.

An 18 year-old man, two 21 year-old men, a 22 year-old man and a 25 year-old man all from Telford have been arrested and bailed until August 8.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a red Ford Focus prior to the event.

Investigating officer PC Richard Bramwell said: "Although we have arrested and bailed five people in connection with this event we are still appealing to the public to come forward with information. If anybody saw a red Ford Focus in the Ironbridge area or surrounding areas prior to this time please contact police."
