Thea Wilson, 37, of Burwarton, near Bridgnorth, raised £7,200 for the Shropshire Blood Trust fund, with an extra £1,600 coming from Gift Aid.

The money will be used to help fund improved services on Ward 23 at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, where haematology and oncology services are based.

Thea has been joined by her friends and family in the fundraising after she was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia in December of last year.

Thea said she felt delighted at being able to give something for the staff who cared for her. She said: "They are incredible people who just make a really bad time in your life better."

The money was raised at events including a Big Wig Bash, a pamper evening and a just giving page. She thanked everyone who helped to raise the money and who donated.
