Hannah Littleford, from Lawley, Telford, has chosen to raise money for Project Breakthrough – launched by The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign – as her 12-year-old half brother Harry Stride suffers from the muscle-wasting disease.

The 15-year-old will take on the challenge in August with five members of her favourite gym, Ore Crossfit in Halesfield.

She said: "I wanted to find something that would be a huge challenge and push me to the limit." Miss Littleford has been training hard with hikes over the Long Mynd, and by taking part in her favourite sport, gymnastics. She added: "Harry was diagnosed with the condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2008, a muscle wasting disease from which there is no cure, at the age of five years old.

"Although he's fairly mobile at the moment, he does use a manual wheelchair when he gets tired. Unfortunately, his condition will only deteriorate over the next few years and he will need the use of an electric wheelchair full-time."

So far Miss Littleford has raised around £1,955 however she hopes to reach a total of £2,500.
