Mark, who grew up on Shrewsbury's Telford Estate, left his home in Penkridge at 4.30am this morning.

He headed for Wolverhampton to mark the start of his 2,340-mile challenge, and will later this month be running marathons in Newport and Market Drayton.

The 31-year-old window cleaner, who went to Belvedere School, is hoping to raise £90,000 which will be split between the Tommy's pregnancy charity, and Katharine House Hospice in Stafford.

Mark's wife Tammy has suffered seven miscarriages, and he said Tommy's had been a huge support. He will be continuing to do his window cleaning round throughout the 90 days, and will be continuing the running when he goes on holiday at the end of the month.

Mark said he was looking forward to finally starting the challenge, although he said the training had been tough.

He will return to his hometown of Shrewbury for his 88th run on November 2.
